HELP WITH YOUR GRADES
Each day, I'll post learning goals in my classroom and on my website in the Calendar Blog. They will be facts and ideas you need to know and skills that you need to master. Working together as a team, I hope that you, your classmates, your parents and I can help you reach or exceed those learning goals.
In my class, your grade will be a reflection of how well you reach those goals. If you meet or exceed all of them, your grade will reflect that. Your grade won't reflect the work that you do; it will reflect how much you know and are able to do at the end of the grading period.
From time to time, you may need help in my class. You might have difficulty reaching a learning goal, and your grade might suffer because of it.
There's some great news in my classroom, though. If you don't like the grade you've earned in my classroom, you don't have to accept it. If you want a better grade, you can fix it. You'll have another chance to prove that you know and are able to do the concepts and skills embodied in the learning goals.
If you score poorly on a quiz or a test, retake it! I'll give you the better of the two grades. Furthermore, you can retake a quiz or a test as many times as you want to get the grade that you want. I want you to learn the concepts and skills embodied in the learning goals. If it takes a little more time and effort on your part and my part to help you achieve this, then I'm okay with that.
If you score poorly on a project, redo it! Go get my rubric on this website and fix the things that are lowering your grade. It's a quick way to increase your grade.
Since I allow you to retake quizzes and tests and to redo projects, I don't normally give out extra credit. When I do, it will be optional and the entire class may participate.
Focus on each day's learning goals, do your best to achieve them, and ask for help when you need it. I'm sure you'll get the grade you're looking for!
